But what if we told you there were other places that would make more sense for this stage? We’ve compiled some helpful information about safety and practical considerations when deciding where best place their head at night – keep reading.
Crib Safety Measures
Whether you decide to buy your baby a crib as soon as possible or months after his/her birth, there are some general safety principles that should be considered. Some people might not think they matter much during the first few weeks of being pregnant but given how costly these items can ultimately become -and one which will likely undergo many years’ worth of testing, it’s best if we take care today what may go wrong later down this road.
- Crib slats. The width of your baby’s crib should be no more than 2-3/8 inches. This will keep them from getting their head stuck between the bars, and it also limits how much they can move around in bed at night.
- Posts and cutouts. Because babies and toddlers can get their heads stuck in different places, it’s important to be aware of what areas you might need extra attention. Avoid posts that are taller than 1/16th inch or have cutouts where children’s bodies parts could fit through easily; make sure there aren’t any blankets stored too closely next time around.
- Crib toys. Crib toys are a great way to keep your baby entertained while you’re busy doing other things, but it’s important for them not to be in their crib. stuffed animals can pose safety risks because they may roll-off or get stuck under the bed when someone changes positions during sleep time.
- Mobiles. Mobiles are a great way to keep your baby entertained while you’re away from home. They can be attached to the crib, ceiling, or wall and come with lights that play music as well! It’s important not only to make sure they don’t hang low enough soiled get entangled in their loops but also check how high up on shelves surrounding Roomba Bear will go because once our little ones start rolling over onto all fours- which many kids do by 5 months old.
- Crib placement. There are a few things to consider when placing your crib. Make sure it is far away from any windows and not less than an arm’s reach away from nearby dressers or table-tops so that you can keep anything else in the room out of baby’s reach while they’re still small enough for mommy may be able to take care them during this time period! We also recommend limiting over-thecrib wall decorations like picture frames because mirrors often end up being accidents waiting to happen if left unchecked. Be aware that even paper borders placed near the crib, while safe for most people’s fingers might not be able to resist reaching out and touching them.
- Firm-fitting mattress/fitted sheet. Make sure you buy a snug fit for your mattress and crib. A loose fitted sheet is dangerous because it can trap a baby’s arm or leg, but also make note of how well-fitted the top layer of fabric on their bedding set will be before putting them inside to ensure there aren’t any large gaps where they could get stuck between grasping fingers (or worse).
- Tooth-resistant rails. The baby won’t be able to damage the railing with their teeth because it’s made out of special plastic.
- Adjustable mattress height. There are a lot of great features on adjustable crib mattresses. One, for example, is that you can lower the mattress as your baby grows and gets taller so they have less chance to climb out from their bedding or climb up onto furniture near it! You’ll want to leave this at its highest setting when there’s little activity in the room since reaching down really far could cause strain upon yourself (and even more importantly) if something were happen while upright than sitting/standing positions allow – like taking care an infant who needs changing diapers.
So you think drop-side cribs are safe?
Some parents might be surprised to learn that adjustable crib side rails have been linked with more than a dozen injuries. This is because they can easily adjust both sides, which creates an unbalanced weight distribution in the frame – and when one goes up while another drops down due either intentional negligence or accidentally shifting away from its intended position over time (with no automatic sensors), there’s potential for serious harm.
There’s bad news for parents who are fans of drop-side cribs. The organization that sets voluntary industry safety standards has recently required all full-size cradles be manufactured with 4 immovable sides, so from now on you’ll need an easy-open door or side rail if your baby will sleep in it alone without any protection at night time when they’re sleeping soundly next to mommy & daddy.
A variety of baby bedding, blankets, and bumpers
You can’t deny the power of tempting parents. You know you want to pamper your new little one, but at what cost? If buying all those accouterments is something that has been on your list for a while now and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon…then by all means just do it! For everyone else though who may have some baby gear aspirations while still being able weekenders or even minimalist sorts like myself; I’m here today with some sobering news—as cute as they are these things really don’t necessarily need.
Crib safety is of utmost importance. Keep soft objects and loose bedding away from your baby’s reach in order to prevent potential injuries that can be caused by these things, such as suffocation or entrapment hazards due to a lack of space where they couldn’t move around freely enough when sleeping on their own terms with no distractions around them at all times – which would make it easy for something dangerous happens without us realizing until later down the line after careful consideration has been put into what happened beforehand already!
