Why do you need a narrow infant car seat?
If you have a small car, then you will need a narrow infant car seat. A standard infant car seat can take up a lot of space in a small vehicle, which can be difficult to navigate and uncomfortable for passengers. Narrow infant car seats are designed specifically for smaller cars, and they usually take up less than half the space of a standard infant car seat. This makes them the perfect option for parents who need a compact car seat that will still safely accommodate their children.
In addition to being narrower, many narrow infant car seats also offer other features that make them ideal for smaller vehicles. For example, some models include an adjustable base that can be customized to fit your specific vehicle’s seating configuration. Others come with a built-in infant head support that provides extra comfort and security for your child.
If you are looking for a safe, comfortable car seat for your small vehicle, then a narrow infant car seat is the perfect option.

So we’re gonna go over how to install the base in two different ways to start. There are indicators on either side of the base to ensure that the car seat is sitting level in your car. Use the foot on the side of the base to adjust the level.
And the indicators will change from red to green when you’re good to go. Option one is the latch system within the car seat base. There are two orange buttons that release a self-retracting latch on either side, pull each of those down and click them into the lower anchors.
Push down on the base into the indicator. Window changes from red to green. This shows that the base is tight enough. You may need to rock it from side to side, a little check your installation, making sure that the base does not move more than one inch. Option two is the seatbelt lock off the system.
Open the light blue lock-off door thread, the seatbelt through the base, making sure that the belt is tucked under, eat the blue ears and then pushed down on the base while pulling the seatbelt tight. The tightness indicator will turn from red to green.
So then you can thread the top portion of, of the belt through the belt path and close the lock-off door over the seatbelt.
Again, check your installation, making sure that the base does not move more than one inch. Now we’ll show you how to buckle your baby into the car seat. The harness must be at or below your baby’s shoulders. Adjust the headrest high accordingly with the tab at the top, buckle the car seat between the legs, and then the slack into the strap at the bottom of the seat. Note that the crotch buckle location is adjustable for your baby’s size.
As they grow buckle the chest clip at armpit level, double-check the tightness of the harness by using the pinch test at your baby shoulders, you should not be able to pinch any slack. Your fingers should slide right off the strap.

Hey family. Welcome back to Jack’s Making It Home. We are a lifestyle channel that produces videos based on home improvement, cooking, and also traveling. Now, if you’re following us, then, you know, by now that we are expecting our very first child, and Shannon and I are really, really excited, blessed, and humbled about becoming first-time parents.
So with that, we will be covering several different videos from first, second, and third-trimester experiences too, unboxing and reviewing different baby products. So look forward to that. I definitely look forward to it.
When it comes to bringing a baby into this world, one of the first things that you have to get or have is a solid car seat. In fact, you can’t leave most hospitals without one. So it’s definitely something that we wanted to look into and research early on. And when doing so, through our experiences, we noticed that there was a huge variance when it came to researching what’s the best or what’s the safest baby product.
One website would have this top 10 and then another website would have a totally different top 10, but when it came to the baby seat, there was always one that was always at the top or really closes the top. And that was the Chicco KeyFit 30. So I was like, boom, we got a car seat. Let me go ahead and purchase that.
So I went to Chicco’s website and I noticed that they had an upgraded version, which was the KeyFit, 35. It had the same general foundation as the KeyFit, 30 same features. It just added a couple more on top of that.
So I was like, that’s the one that we’re gonna go with. So that’s the one we ended up purchasing, and that is the one that we are going to unbox and install today. So let’s go ahead and jump into that unboxing. All righty. So when you get inside, it’s like the car seat
And it looks like that’s it. So inside the box, we had the car seat itself, a registration card, and then on the car seat, there is a pamphlet. Let’s see what’s on here. It’s a user guide.
So we’ll definitely be using this to make sure that we install it correctly
It’s a very detailed user guide. So we’ll definitely get into that, but let’s go ahead and talk about some of the key features of the KeyFit 35. We’ll start with the shared features between the KeyFit 30 and the KeyFit 35.
They include a removable newborn head and body positioner. That’s designed to fit babies weighing between four and 11 pounds. There’s a one-hand tightening system with that. It also loosens very easily.
The headrest system extends to fit different size babies. One hand click-in attachment for compatible strollers and a full-coverage canopy that provides up to F 50 sun protection and also privacy on the base.
You can see the easy-to-install and remove latch connectors. Also, there is what is called the super cinch tightener that achieves a secure fit by pulling the base tight to the seat easily. It has an easy spring-loaded self-leveling system with level indicators to tell you when you have the base at the correct angle, I forgot to mention during the boxing that the base was also included, and that’s very clutch and important.
It was actually attached to the car, but you use the base to attach to your vehicle seat, and then you’ll put your car seat on top of the base. You can utilize it without the base, but we are definitely moving forward with the base.
Let’s talk about a few key differences between the KeyFit 30 and a KeyFit 35
The KeyFit 30 is designed to support babies between four and 30 pounds. Whereas the 35 added five more pounds pushing that limit to 35 pounds. The KeyFit 30 was also designed to support babies up to 30 inches in length. Whereas the 35 supports up to 32 inches. Also, the KeyFit 35 has this anti-rebound bar that you can see here. The KeyFit 30 actually lacks this and this anti-rebound bar fits snugly against the vehicle seat.
And it will actually absorb energy in the unfortunate event of an accident. Also, it stabilizes the car seat itself and it provides that extra legroom that we just talked about outside of those few things that we just mentioned, the KeyFit, 35 holds essentially the same features as the KeyFit 30 that has made it such a popular choice for so many parents. It is machine washable.
It is available in several different colors and on Chicco’s website, when we purchased it, it was listed at 2 49 99. We actually got hours off of Amazon and it costs roughly $200 after tax.
Now let’s go ahead and jump to the car and show what the installation looks like inside of the vehicle. So one of the major selling points with the Chicco KeyFit 35 is that it is extremely easy to install.
So let’s go ahead and show you what it looks like without using the latching system
So going inside of the car, the first step, whether you’re using the latching system or you’re using the seatbelt version that we’re gonna show you right now, you’re gonna put your current level ground, and then you’re gonna use the pool level here to ensure that your seat is level.
So make sure that the bubble is nice and in the center there.
So about right there. So then you wanna take your seatbelt. There’s a hole just like this on this side. You’re gonna go from the bottom up, give yourself some slack, and then you’re gonna go through this one from the top, down into your seatbelt. At that point, you’re gonna pull all your slack outta your line, which is gonna tighten your base to your car, to your vehicle seat.
And then on this side, there’s a lock-off. So once you get it tight, just put that seatbelt through that lock off, then your seat, the belt’s not gonna move. And your seat, and your base are then installed.
So we’re back outside of the vehicle. Really, really simple to take it off. You just unbuckle it like a normal seatbelt and take it back through the holes that we showed you guys.
So now we’re gonna show you the latching system. We’ll probably always use this because both of our vehicles have the latching anchors built into our rear seats.
So you just take the latches out of their little built-in area on the car seat’s base.
We’re gonna go back inside of the vehicle
And if you look at the vehicle seat itself, you’ll have these little icons here, maybe see it down here a little better. And that’s where your anchor is going to be. So right down there is your anchor that you’ll attach to. So again, your first step is always going to be to make sure that your car seat big is level and your car is on level ground. We didn’t touch anything. So that’s still good. So we’re gonna take our latch
And hopefully, click it in. We’ll see how it works. Do the same thing on this side. Pretty simple.
Then we have this cinch right here. We’re gonna pull this and that will tighten our base to our seat. So we’re gonna push down a little bit here to make sure that it’s nice and secure against our vehicle seat. Cinch it up nice and tight because I don’t want any movement. Yeah, we, it now we’re gonna roll this up, put it back in the pull, strap storage right there.
At this point, we are good to put our car seat on our base. Let’s knock that up.
So we’ve got the car seat. We got our base all secure. We’re gonna just drop it on until we hear a click double-check your work. Maybe ain’t go nowhere. We’re good to go. So we did get one more base because the set only comes with one base and of course the car seat itself. So I’ll show you guys what’s included in that. Hopefully, it’s just the base itself, but we’ll unbox that really fast.
So inside the package is an identical base that we just unboxed. There’s another registration card. The registrations are really, really important because you want to be notified in case there are any communications, including things like recalls, regards to your base or your car seat, or anything like that.
There’s also another user guide for the Key at 35. So we have two bases, so we’ll keep one in each vehicle. And then the one car seat they’ll allow us to transition from car to car or vehicle to vehicle, really, really easily.
But that’s our unboxing and installation of the KeyFit 35 first impressions. We’re really, really excited. We have no issues so far. We really, really like the car seat and the base and the ease and the cleanliness and the simplicity of it. We will come back potentially maybe six months or a year down the line to have some more feedback. But right now, again, our first impressions are really, really good.
We hope that this video was helpful for you guys!

Hey guys, it’s Aubrie and in today’s video, I’m going to be doing a first impressions review of our brand new car seat. The Graco Snugride 35 LX Carseat. That’s a mouthful.
I’m also gonna be explaining why we chose this car seat out of all the other car seats on the market and why we went with an infant car seat versus a convertible car seat this time around.
So, if you’re interested in hearing all of my thoughts and opinions on that, then you’ll definitely wanna keep watching. And if you’re new here, welcome to my channel. I usually don’t share this much baby stuff, but we’re right on the brink of having this third baby.
So obviously there’s a lot of babies on the brain. I also share stuff about cooking, frugality, home, studying all of that. So, if you’re into, in hearing about those types of things, definitely check out my older videos and hit subscribe for any future videos.
I’d love to have you stick around. Okay. So right off the bat, let’s get specific. This car seat is specifically the Graco Snugride 35 LX Car seat with an anti-rebound bar and the call color or style that we chose is in the color Perkins. As you can see, this car seat is very monochromatic, sleek, mainly black with a little bit of charcoal detail. It’s just very simplistic.
And I think one of those classic styles that won’t go out of style, I wanted something that was just gender-neutral, sleek, and that would stay in. I think this car seat definitely ticks all those boxes and it looks very high-end for not being a high-end brand.
So, the main reason we chose this car seat off the bat is we wanted a car seat that was affordable, easy to install timeless, and classic looking, not gender-specific or too like babyish, as lightweight as I could get.
So those are the main things that I was looking at when purchasing a car seat. The reason I wanted those four things is that with my last two kids, we had a gray co car seat travel system that we were gifted at one of our baby showers, which I’m very appreciative of, but I didn’t really like the car seat that we ended up getting, because it was very difficult to install, like almost impossible. It was pretty heavy.
And I had a hard time carrying it around, especially as the babies got older and I hated the look and the design of it. It was like silver plastic.
So, it is kind of like glistening in the sun, which is not that big deal is just kind of ugly looking to me. But the pattern in the scheme that it was, I just hated it was blue and brown with like this whimsical looking pattern that really screamed like the early nineties.
And I just didn’t like it. We used it, it, it did well, it got what we needed out of it. It lasted two whole kids. So, we got our money’s worth out of it. And we were, again, very appreciative this time around since I kind of knew what to expect with car seats and like what I didn’t like with the other one, those were the main points that I was looking for when shopping around.
So, some of the main reasons why we ended up choosing this Graco Snugride 35 LX Car seat versus some of the other options in the lineup is for one, the base is super easy to install because I can do it myself to get a proper fit and I can get it in and out without having written help me with the other gray co car seat. We had several years ago; it was super hard to install.
So, renin would always have to install it for me, which is kind of a pain cuz he sometimes isn’t there to do it. So, I really liked that this car seat was something that I wouldn’t have to have help get in or out again with that old car seat we had, I could never get it out of the car on my own. It was too difficult.
And it had those latch hooks that you had to like the press in and like maneuver and pull out. It wasn’t some of the easier ones that are on the market. Now I really needed a base that I could get in and out of the car with a proper installation on my own, without question. And this car seat is definitely that I’ve tried it several times and it’s been no problem each time.
So that was one of the highest reasons why I chose this car seat. Also, one of the second biggest reasons why we got this car seat over some of the others is because of the price point, all car seats are safe and have the same ratings for the most part, as long as they’re properly installed. So, I wasn’t trying to buy like the most expensive car seat just to feel like I was more protected. I wanted something that I could in my car safely and properly, so it would be safe.
I wasn’t really concerned about spending, you know, three, four, $500 on an infant car seat.
So, I really appreciated the price point of this car seat. It is retailed on target, normally a hundred and sixty-nine ninety-nine. I ended up only paying for ours 158$. But the reason it was on sale was that I purchased it when they were running a 10% off sale online on the car seats.
So, I really only paid about 140, $45 after everything was said and done. So that was something I felt really good about. Cuz the price point, wasn’t like $400 for a car seat. Another reason that I chose this car seat is because of the ability to put it into any gray coast stroller. I don’t plan on getting a stroller. I don’t think I’ll use it that often.
I don’t really have the trunk space to put a big stroller in and I prefer to babywear carry. So if the need does come though, and I do, I later down the line, I want a stroller. This car seat will fit into any gray coast stroller, which is great because you can find gray coast strollers on the Facebook marketplace or resale shops like a dime a dozen.
But I don’t have to look for a specific stroller to fit this one to complete the system. So, some of the other features that I do like that kind of pushed me this direction compared to some of the other ones that we looked at was the fact that it is again nice looking. It looks sleek. I also really liked the one-handed handle on the top of the car seat to get the handle down or up.
You only need to click with thumb our previous car seat with my other two kids. Back in the day, I had to do both hands on the side and I had to click both buttons in to get the handle up and down, which I remember being such a pain. So, I do like that.
I can just click it with one hand. I don’t have to use two hands and click two separate buttons to get the top handle down. I also like the, and AE on this one. I think they call it the silent shade canopy, but basically, it’s just a different material.
That’s not like that cheapy crinkly wind pan material that makes such a loud noise. Anytime you brush up against it. It also has like enough padding, which again, car seats are all about the same safety. I’m sure as long installed properly, they’re all meet a certain requirement.
But when I looked at some of the lesser Graco car seats compared to this one, the material and the padding were just so thin that I just couldn’t imagine putting my baby in it, cuz it just seemed so uncomfortable. Like I wouldn’t wanna ride in it. So I, I just, I don’t know. I didn’t like that this one doesn’t have super thick, heavy padding, like some of the higher-end ones that I’ve seen, but it has enough where I feel like it’s comfortable safe.
It’s not just like a little thin piece of plastic. And lastly, the other feature that I really liked that I could have lived without, but if, if it comes with it, then great is the head support or like the little headpiece, this car seat comes with one and you can push without rereading. So, you don’t have to rethread the shoulder straps and all of that to move the headpiece up, which I really like, cuz again, it’s really aggravating when you have to take the whole thing apart.
Like the other one that I had with my first two kids to re-thread the shoulder straps when they got bigger and I was again, always concerned, like, did I do it right?
Did I put it back in there? Right. So, I did really at, and I think that that will come in handy as we use a car seat. So, the specifics with this car seat is that it fits from four to 35 pounds and 32 inches in height. The whole base and seat itself weigh 17.5 pounds in total and the chair itself without the base weighs 10.5 pounds.
That was one of the drawbacks to this one that I didn’t really care for was the fact that it wasn’t the lightest seat, the gray co 35 light, which was the hundred dollars car seat. That was kind of like the base model car seat was only 7.5 to eight pounds.
That was obviously a lot lighter, but I feel like that little bit of weight is made up for some of the other features that are convenient. So, I think I can live with it. Some of the things that I do notice that could potentially be a problem, but we’ll just wait and see is the handle.
When you click it, it’s a little finicky and you can’t just click the handle and push it all the way back or click it and push it all the way forward to like the caring position. You kind of have to press it once and it goes half back and then presses it again to go like all the way back. I’ll keep messing with it and try it. But first, first impressions on that, it isn’t as simple as like press a button up down, whatever. Also, the canopy, it kind of gets hung.
The handle kind of gets hung on the canopy a little bit. That might be all car seats cuz our other car seat we used to have done that as well, but we’ll, we’ll just keep messing with it and see how it is. Again. Maybe it’ll get better over time after I kind of used it a little more and figured it out.
So, the reason why we ended up going with an infant car seat versus a convertible car seat is that I think it will be more convenient. I did way heavily the pros and cons of going convertible from the start versus infant and then transitioning to convertible. I, I really wanted to go the convertible route just for the simple fact of I could buy it once, learn it once, and use it forever until we don’t need it anymore. So I didn’t wanna have to do that process twice.
So the convertible really appealed to me because of that reason. I just wanted it to be an efficient process and be done with it. However, I think that the convenience of being able to click the car seat in and out with the baby inside is what pushed us to just go with the infant from the start. And then we will transition later to convertible. I don’t have a garage or anything.
So our cars are just out in the weather and our baby’s gonna be born around late summer getting into fall and winter. So I didn’t wanna have to be getting him in the car seat, out in the weather like when we’re shopping or whatever. I wanted to be able to put him in our seat inside and just carry it, click it in and get in the car and go, ultimately went with the infant because of that little bit of added convenience.
I know that it won’t be like that for the entire time we’re using it because he’ll eventually be way too heavy to carry around inside of the car seat. That little bit of added convenience is gonna be worth it. I think so they have a guy that is my first impression and the reason why I ended up going with the Graco Snugride 35 LX Car seat. If you have any specific questions, drop a comment down below, I’ll be happy to answer all of you.
