In the same way as our last article, we’ve compared four different types of strollers for city life. And now it’s time to answer another question! This countryside-oriented review will teach you what are some good options if your goal is taking short trips outside with a baby or toddler in tow while still wanting them safe and secure during travel.
We’ve chosen strollers for those parents who want a versatile, reversible stroller that can handle any terrain and is likely more durable than your average baby gear. Those with limited funds or access to imported products and looking for local options like folding strollers will do just fine.
Which stroller model is best for your family on rough roads?
You’ll need to consider whether you have sidewalks or dirt paths in addition to the type of vehicle that will be used. The Bumbleride Era, Uppababy Vista V2, the Bugaboo Fox3, and the Uppababy Cruz V2 all make great choices because they can handle different terrains without any problem.
Today, we’ll be addressing the question of what stroller model is best for your situation. In this article, I am going to take a look at each countryside-based stroller.
Uppababy Vista V2
- Enjoy a softer ride pushing one child (or three!) over any ground surface thanks to a new spring-action all-wheel suspension and slightly softer tires.
- Extended canopies on the toddler seat and RumbleSeat accessory include zip out fabric that provide even more shade from the sun. Mesh panels also make it easy to peek in while adding airflow.
- A higher back and deeper foot rest on the toddler seat provide added comfort for growing children
- With a sliding shoulder adjustment, the entire harness system can be tightened or loosened in a singular motion for a precise fit for growing babies.
- Includes Bassinet and full size forward or parent-facing toddler seat with one-handed, multi-position recline. Performance travel system compatible with MESA Infant Car seat - direct attachment, no adapters necessary.
I know it is a little bit of an unconventional choice, but in my opinion, the Uppababy Vista V2 has some really great features for this situation. For one thing, its sturdy chassis design means fewer worries about larger bars and connection points actually breaking which ultimately saves you time when fixing or replacing anything on your stroller if something does go wrong.
I also found that the folding mechanism works quite smoothly without any problems at all making sure everything’s locked into place – sounds ideal indeed. Plus it has an adjustable handle position. You can rest easy knowing that this stroller has been built with quality in mind. Its simple design means there are no worries about alignment or components failing unexpectedly, which could lead you into having to take it apart and replace anything salvageable!
The Uppababy Vista V2 has the second-best terrain capability, but it’s quite close to Bumbleride Era strollers. Their larger wheel sizes make them more stable on uneven surfaces like bumpy ground or cobblestone paths which can wear down any suspension over time if you’re traveling constantly in these types of places without adjusting your travel plans accordingly.
To avoid any complications with your stroller, it is important that you maintain its condition. In particular, the brake system and front wheel housing are susceptible to issues from dust building up or rusting which can lead to more serious problems down the line if left unchecked for too long. Maintenance is key to the longevity of this product. In order for it to hold up well in an environment with more rough use, you should lubricate all moving parts and clean out any dirt or dust from inside your stroller’s wheels often so that they last longer than expected.
The Bumbleride Era
- REVERSIBLE SEAT – This lightweight stroller features an infant safe reversible seat to bond with your precious cargo until they’re ready to adventure facing forward. Car seat compatible, and with easy stow pockets, this city stroller is exactly what your baby needs.
- ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY – The ultra soft texture in each single stroller is made using 100% recycled PET, and the innovative dyeing process conserves massive amounts of water.
- ADJUSTABLE – Along with the UPF 45+ canopy and pop out extension, you can enjoy the smoothest push with all wheel suspension, a convenient adjustable footrest, one-handed backrest recline, and PVC free non toxic cork handle.
- DURABLE – Weighing only 27 pounds, the light weight frame pairs perfectly with non fading polyester fabric, and 4 air-filled tires (2x8.5” front, 2x12” rear – pump included) with true all wheel suspension.
- NEXT GENERATION SAFETY DESIGN – With a parent wrist strap, secure flip flop-friendly foot brake, and 5-point breakaway harness, this travel system is built smart for you and your child.
The Bumbleride Era Stroller has some advantages over the Vista strollers in terms of its large wheels and simpler brake system. This means that it’s less likely to get dirt or rust on them, which can affect how well they work when outdoors.
With its air-filled wheels, the advantage of this stroller over the Vista is that it provides more shock absorption. However, in environments where there are lots of sharp rocks and things to puncture or damage your tires can be a significant hassle since you have to do replacements for them as well.
The Bumbleride Era is well – it suites to family transportation but it has some serious drawbacks in terms of durability.
- Firstly, the handle itself may not hold up over time as you use and abuse your stroller – especially if there are rougher roads involved or when reversed on uneven terrain.
- Secondly (and more importantly), this type of body construction means that heavier parts like the front end could cause significant loosening/broken elements within 2–3 years of usage.
The Bugaboo Fox3
- SEAMLESS MANEUVERABILITY - For a smoother, more comfortable ride for both parent and baby, the Fox 3 full-size stroller features durable all-terrain wheels and advanced suspension!
- INTUITIVE, ONE-PIECE FOLD - The Fox 3 stroller effortlessly collapses with improved folding buttons, into one piece and has a self-standing option, so it's easy to move and store
- CAR SEAT COMPATIBLE - Perfect for parents on the go, our infant to toddler stroller accommodates newborns and babies up to 48.5lbs! ADAPTER INCLUDED
- SOFT-TOUCH & BREEZY FABRICS -New large padded bassinet with a breezy panel for enhanced breathability and airflow. Large extendable sun canopy with breezy and peekaboo panel for a perfect balance of protection and reachability/visibility. Updated soft-touch fabrics for ultra-comfortable feel.
- QUALITY PARENTS TRUST - Every Bugaboo stroller undergoes 1,500 safety tests, so you'll rest assured knowing your child is in good hands. All strollers come with a 2 + 1 year warranty
The Bugaboo Fox3 has better terrain capability than the Uppababy Cruz V2, but it’s a model that fails most severely when tested for potential longevity issues due to its complexity. The central bar of this folding stroller is responsible for many functions and adds additional suspension in terms of how much trouble they are likely going be if something goes wrong with these delicate internal elements.
This stroller is not made for rough terrain and should only be used on smooth surfaces. If you plan to take your child out of the house often, this may not work well with their lifestyle since they’ll have more trouble pushing it around than those who stay inside most days. I’ve found that folding up my Fox BabyRover correctly can avoid many problems – but there’s always room for error when dealing with new equipment.
When it comes to strollers, I prefer models that are simple and durable. For remote areas with rough roads or dirt paths, my preference is for an all-terrain vehicle because they can handle more abuse than a traditional infant seat while still being easy enough for most people who will be providing support when needed.
Uppababy Cruz V2
- Dual action rear suspension (patent-pending) is designed with two varying springs that respond in unison to soften the ride no matter the child's weight.
- Smaller folded size makes it easier to carry, tuck away or take up less trunk space
- Larger front and rear tires create a smoother ride over tough terrain
- Bigger toddler seat provides added comfort for growing children.
- Zip out fabric extension provides UPF 50+ protection along with privacy during nap time. Top mesh panels allow for quick check-in, along with added airflow.
The Uppababy Cruz V2 is one of the best choices for parents looking to take their new baby on an adventure. This high-quality stroller has all sorts of features that will ensure your little ones stay comfy and happy, but I give it the last place because I’m not entirely sure how rough the terrain will be. The Cruz V2 is a great choice if you plan on traveling with your little one. It can handle most terrains, but this means that some things might not work out as well for the model when using their stroller in these types of settings – especially muddy roads or obstacles containing large rocks which could potentially be less comfortable.
The Vista and Cruz strollers are both great, but they do have some differences that you should consider when deciding on which one to buy. If you know what types of terrain to expect, then it becomes easier to decide which stroller will best suit your needs.
The Cruz would not be the best shoe for cities with a lot of rough cobblestones, such as those found in Europe. The stroller is a good choice for traveling in dry climates with rough terrains such as Spain or Greece. The Vista stroller is very similar in many ways to this model.
